Fraud / White Collar Crime

Edwin Sutherland, and American Sociologist defined “white collar crime” as “a crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation.”

The most common type of “fraud” is the offence of obtaining money by deception. It is an offence to by deception obtain for yourself or any other person money or a financial advantage.

There are variances on ‘fraud” such as “fraudulent misappropriation,” receiving a benefit under “false pretences” or a wilfully false promise.
